Their Marine & Protective Coatings business is the global market leader in its sector and part of AkzoNobel’s successful Performance Coatings operation. Over recent years they have been investing an ever-increasing portion of their revenue into R&D, successfully filling their product pipeline every year since 2004. They now wish to strengthen their IP resource by recruiting a high-calibre, commercially focused Patent Attorney to manage this important portfolio.

You will play a key role in ensuring competitive advantage worldwide for technical and commercial innovations arising principally from their research centre based in the North East of England. Working closely with scientists, commercial colleagues, and senior management, you will enjoy considerable
responsibility and autonomy and be required to offer advice on the full range of IP issues including; patent strategy, drafting applications, freedom to market opinions, prosecution and opposition at the EPO, licensing contracts, and IP agreements.

Candidates will possess a first degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science and be a fully qualified CPA and/or EPA with a proven track record in either private practice or industry. Finals’ standard candidates will also be seriously considered.
